*sigh*
So many people seem to be caught up on the fact that this episode doesn't have anything to do with the story.
This story itself is a take on freedom of expression and experimentation. They are literally watching a modern day gag of cultivation tropes. Yet complain the episode appreciating the work that animators do, and inform viewers of the workplace stereotypes and stress points, is not "canon" enough for them.
Please, take your "holier than thou" attitudes to an animation studio or fiction publisher and to the job yourself. If not, then enjoy the fact that someone has taken time out of their day and life to even make this masterpiece. They do a job and get paid. If you dont like the job they do, do it better yourself. Stop complaining on websites that the creators will likely never see, for reasons that they dont give a damn about.
This episode is a brilliant tribute to people working their ass off in likely sub-par conditions, possibly putting up with people they dont even like, just to finish a project to maintain their livelihoods. You lot are shitting on their efforts and it makes me cringe.

kinda sad that you have to point out the obvious to people...

RIZER • 2 years ago

This guy is spitting facts. xD

Idk why people can't appreciate the damn studios. Remember just how people cursed MAPPA for SnK Final Season when they should've been thankful for even seeing it animated.

You should watch an anime called Bakuman. Well it isn't about animating but it is about how a manga is made. Watch that series to see just how difficult it is to make a manga and just how many steps are there to make it successful. And anime is literally the conversion of that manga which is done by the animation studios who work their @$$ off. Well I don't know much about how Donghuas are animated so I took mangas as an example to make my point.

signaru • 2 years ago

shirobako is less popular, i guess. just recommending it since you mentioned bakuman and it is more on point.

My man. U destroyed them

K boy • 2 years ago

but weren't you saying you were disappointed in the anime 😅😅

RIZER • 2 years ago

I might've said that.... I'm not sure tho. I might be contradicting myself but just look at what that man has written. It is still straight out facts. I think i said that in the first episode, but whenever i did said that i also pointed the good points.

So i was being neutral. That is all i can say.

K boy • 2 years ago

and yeah you were kind of contradictory 😅😅 but I get that they wanted to save the budget for the actual fight scenes

K boy • 2 years ago

well I'm hyped I'm about to watch the final episode now haven't been watching much anime recently yeah I'm guessing why that butterfly girl was able to take him was because of what she said

Shinra Tensei • 2 years ago

Agree

Testarossa • 2 years ago

He has the points man I love this show but sometimes I also have bad opinions on some animes Chinese of japanese some just aren't there like compare to manga and light novel and I totally understood it cause if it needs a lot for details it would be hard since animation is frame by frame so I don't blame much on them but the way they animate the story idk who is complaining but you have a point alot of good animes that I watch and I absolutely love them and alot of people hating on it despite it was good unlike stories that are actually bad 👌 I always appreciate the efforts of animators I've seen and heard show tiring it was but except for some like they legit ruins the good story , ok I'ma watch this episode now

OH please, pleb.

Stop virtue signaling! It's so cringy.

Dominic Statuto • 2 years ago

Your only proving his point by commenting that buddy.

WalkingArrow • 2 years ago

Ah don't worry they're just another person who use the term without knowing what it means.

WalkingArrow • 2 years ago

Dude do you even know what that term means?

AnimeJunki3 • 1 year ago

Yes, ser!

WalkingArrow • 1 year ago

Of yourse you are replying to the same thing twice, you are the textbook definition of,

"I saw too many weebs on youtube use this word so Imma use it too incorrectly because I feel like the word is being used correctly"

AnimeJunki3 • 1 year ago

OH, yes. But DO you?

WalkingArrow • 1 year ago

Of course I do buddy. And what you replied to isn't virtue signaling at all.

Mr.Gold • 2 years ago

This was great, it was nice seeing the animators vent and detail us the process that we were probably never given a view into for other anime's and the like....

Anyways, for all the people saying this doesn't contribute to the story, you could've just skipped as it said this was an extra at the start, but yeah, we don't say this enough and I doubt they'll see this, but we wholly appreciate all your efforts, please stay safe and well🤗

Amano erika. • 2 years ago

I feel as if this episode is somewhat of an exposition of the behind the scenes of animations, even if Chinese ones. Showcasing the conditions animation company workers faces, albeit magical ways.

Can you call this 4th wall breaking especially when they mention about stuff happening when the episode ends?

Didn't expect Wang Ling's temporary new world to be like this either🤗

Looks good.

LesK • 2 years ago

now take a close look at the beginning of episode 10, before all the 4th wall breaking stuff and compare it to the final scene. the one where he's standing by the windows and thanking the studio for creating their world... THAT final piece folks is what an animated show is supposed to look like. not the mixed-up mess in the middle and the plain and average opening scenes of the episode.

unfortunately, no project ever made to that HD holy grail quality standards would ever make a profit... because they'd be killing staff members like lemmings heading for a seaside cliff. or like that poor dude who turns into a pile of dust and ashes right at his workstation.

there's also a great deal of other little inside-jokes and tiny side-plots alongside some serious digs at AI rendering, CGA, frame rate commentaries, impossible to work with directors (as this one apparently doesn't mind being shown on-screen perving out to a loli action/fist-fighter PC game WHILE HE'S AT WORK!)... it's an interesting episode in that way too.

and since there's SO MANY technical terms thrown about... Funimation's terrible Mandarin --> English isn't so crappy in this episode. ;) i guess folks working in the animation business like Funi would have translators not only familiar with the industry terminologies, but they'd have a bit of insight into how the internal mechanisms of a show should be discussed.

all in all, just like Funi titled it, 'Extra: .... ' watch this episode only because it's fun. :)

Tiger • 2 years ago

this ep was more like an ova

Komi • 2 years ago

Well, how do I say this... It's interesting in a way that they showed us how the animators worked, but it didn't really provide any development in the plot.

Dudimus Prime • 2 years ago

It wasn't supposed to. It said "Extra" at the start. This episode was the studio's way of venting at the fanbase who complains about every little thing while not giving a bit of appreciation for the hard work actually being done. Honestly, I loved this episode!

Sahith Nulu • 2 years ago

tbh it does say tht it is an extra at the beginning, but lol this was sort of funny and interesting.

TumorsAreGood • 2 years ago

Do any of the episodes?

Zuko Todoroki • 2 years ago

An anime showing animators animating an anime in another anime.

Zeromin0 ❤ • 1 year ago

True

Ass Plug • 2 years ago

yall its alright to complain but this ep isnt directed to all fans in any where else, as far as i know, theres this animation event going in china about a couple days ago, and ofc high rated donghuas are to be promoted, this episode was also to call out people who keep complaining of animation quality regardless of them being ignorant of all the hard work.
Just dont watch yall, doesnt cost to stop being a bitch

Kara Kent • 2 years ago

oh this ep was so much fun i loved it love it when they give an inside look on the animators workplace i only saw it in gintama so im happy to see it in here too it's good to show how they work so hard on the animation and how everything is done

This episode really was cool, something different...
Didn't expect to see real footages...

I’m no one famous but shout out to all animators from any countries. These animated series are enjoyable because of you guys. There’s no such thing as a bad animator, just new or professional animator. And if the animation isn’t great, it’s probably because the budget is too low, causing the animation to not be as good as you want it to, but it’s all good, I’d still enjoy it as long as the story is interesting or good. So to all Animators… I Respect You! 🫡

Alex Benjamin • 2 years ago

this episod is so real

Diablo • 2 years ago

That was .... interesting

blanka- • 2 years ago

skipped ffs

Sigh • 2 years ago

That not considered watching a full anime unless it’s a filler
In my conditions

Amano erika. • 2 years ago

I literally don't even know what to say about this episode........

Dudimus Prime • 2 years ago

Well, it was an episode meant to reflect on the hard work of the studio staff, and the self centered thoughts/words of many of the viewer base. So, ask yourself, "Am I part of that problem"?

That's a good start.

omg omg im not gonna read the comments yet but i fucking love this episode! i love that it splits off into basically a filed trip to an animation company ^.^ !!! i've always wanted to see it portrayed in a casual action anime and they're doing it so fucking good lol ..not to mention it answers A LOT of questions as to how animations can't always be perfected and it takes A TON of time and effort & manpower! & Love and Dedication/Conviction!, being an artist myself i totally understand, im just loving this ep so much rn let me just stop and finish it lmao/.^

holy shit the process to make JoJo's Bizarre Adventure must be insanely intricate , i just love that art style too and its always transforming and setting insanely intrinsic impactful environments and unique character modifications/movement styles o.o im so interested in this ep/.o /-\

THE FUCKING 4TH WALL BREAKING. this a whole Masterpiece/.0

I love what Ling says in the very end, he's the perfect representation of a person with real appreciation for the creation of these unique worlds we get to look into ^.^
